I already own a PicoMic 3 / PicoMic 3 Pro, can I use it with the PicoRecorder?
Yes, absolutely!
You can even purchase the PicoRecorder on its own (without microphones) and use it with the PicoMics you already have.
Also, your PicoMic 3 already supports 32-bits audio, so moving to the PicoRecorder will enable that feature.
However, the PicoRecorder is not compatible with the PicoMic 1 or PicoMic 2.
Can the Starter / Creator Kit be extended to 6 microphones later?
Yes, absolutely.
That’s the whole idea behind PicoRecorder: it’s a modular platform designed to scale with your needs as you grow.
The Starter and Creator Kits also include a travel case that’s already sized for up to six microphones.
What’s new on the PicoMic 3 Pro?
We introducted these long-awaited updates:
- All-black clip with no logos. Many of you asked for a fully black clip instead of the PicoMic 3’s gray metallic one.
- 500 m range. PicoMic 3 Pro now offers a 500-meter outdoor, line-of-sight range (up from 250 m on PicoMic 3).
- New colored clip covers. The PicoMic 3 Pro box includes small fabric covers to help conceal the clip on clothing—five colors are included: black, dark gray, light gray, white, and dark blue.
What’s new on the PicoMic 3?
Compared to the previous version (PicoMic 2 / PicoMic 2 Pro), the PicoMic 3 has the following improvements:
- A USB-C port, that can be used both to charge the PicoMic and to connect an external microphone, with the provided cable.
- A new antenna design, dramatically improving the range when the PicoMic is near the body – which usually decreases the efficiency of traditional antennas.
- Support for external microphones is now available for all PicoMics 3.
- A new acoustic engineering of the clip, improving the wind-noise resistance even without the deadcad / windshield. The clip is now watertight, allowing to use the PicoMic 3 under the rain with no risks of damaging the microphone.
- The PicoMic 3 now comes with two windshield colors (white and black).
The PicoMic 3 is compatible with all the existing receivers – just make sure to update to the latest firmware.
